Picture of the Week: July 29

I mean ... I did tell them to share.

P.S. Can someone please tell me when my children got so big?

P.P.S. Aren't they adorable?

Pictures of the Week: July 22

Just look at that ornery face. We fight the standing-in-the-chair battle every day. We win every time, but that doesn't stop her from trying again. That persistence will serve her well later in life.

Hilarious. Just freaking hilarious.

Picture of the Week: July 8

In the last 12 months or so, the twinkies have bounced back and forth between Mama's girls and Daddy's girls. We're currently in Mama mode. Can you tell? Wherever I am, my little ducklings are waddling (more like flat out running) right behind me. And whenever one gets attention, the other demands some, too. Earlier this week, Claire stumbled and hit her head on the wall. I snuggled and loved her. And not even a minute later, Grace walked up to the exact location of the incident, leaned over, purposely bonked her head and started fake crying. Then she walked over to me and sat in my lap. It was all I could do to stop from laughing. Sweet little lovies.

Pictures of the Week: July 1

This was our first swimming experience of the summer. They got in, they got out, they went down the slide, sat in their house, ran into the woods, got in, got out and giggled the whole time. There is something truly magically about water.

Pictures of the Week: Apr. 1

Our lives have turned into one big game of monkey see, monkey do.

If Grace sits with her feet hanging out of the crib, Claire immediately copies.

If Claire starts to play with the blocks, Grace immediately copies.

If Grace slaps me across the face because she's hopping mad, Claire immediately copies. But more on that later.

For now, enjoy these non-furious, non-temper-tantrum-throwing cuties.

All smiles (and teeth). That's life lately. And I'm eating it up.

Pictures of the Week: Feb. 25

My absence here has led to a backlog of pictures, which makes for a twin-licious Friday for you!

Lately, Grace has been really interested in "helping me cook."

And, of course, Claire wanted to help, too.

Then she went and got turkey stuck on her face.

And we went outside and Grace made this funny face.

Then they both sat in this duck for approximately 3.6 seconds before they started screaming about how they were touching each other.

This is Claire after the turkey incident. She's a little embarrassed.

And in case you missed it on facebook ... the coolest kids this side of the Mississippi.

Look at these little book worms we're raising! During the process of transforming the office into a bedroom and the sunroom into an office, we have boxes of books sitting in the living room. Each day, the girls unpack the boxes and choose a few books to peruse. I told you NPR would pay off.

Pictures of the Week: Jan. 28

My sister, Cassie, gets the credit for capturing these incredibly cute moments. And that is what most of our moments are starting to look like. Smiles, walking, giggles. We do still have crying and whining and bonking heads and all that good stuff, but a majority of life these days is fun and good times.

Pictures of the Week: Jan. 21

If I had to choose one word to describe our week, it would be peaceful. Now that Scott's working from home, we have really settled into a nice routine. The girls LOVE having him around (so do I, for that matter) and his presence has just calmed everything down a bit. That may all change next week or the week after, but I'm grateful for this lovely, peaceful week.

Picture of the Week: Jan. 14

So, technically this is from last week, but I've been so busy this week, I didn't even snap one shot. I remember the days when they just stayed wherever I put them and I would have time to take thousands of photos. Now, I'm just constantly on the run, trying to keep up. But I promise more updated photos next week. Probably of Claire fighting her nap.

Also, I love how monochromatic the girls look. I really wasn't going for this look. I just pulled out what was clean. But I'm kinda digging it.

Pictures of the Week: Jan. 7

What a week! It was topped off last night with both girls getting fevers and a rash all over their bodies. So, this morning when they also (loudly) refused to eat, we gave in and called the doctor. The doctor said he thought all of it was a reaction to the immunizations and although he chose his words carefully, he basically said they have a slight case of the measles. Awesome.

We're hoping this reaction is gone by Monday and to help us make it through, we will be hitting "refresh" on these cuties all weekend.

Pictures of the Week: Dec. 30

I'm posting these a day early ...

Because it's New Year's Eve Eve and I have a special surprise for you tomorrow.

Because I have a series of beautiful shots that my sister took.

Because I missed last week's Picture of the Week.

Enjoy!

Picture of the Week: Dec. 17

My sister Carrie arrived from Florida this week. She hasn't seen the girls since August. I can't even remember August. Who knows what we were doing back then.

They played and played and played and even got introduced to one of our favorite childhood games: dress up.

I'm fairly certain they won't be allowing her to leave.

Picture of the Week: Dec. 3

Ok, so technically this is from last week, but I was in a turkey coma on Friday and couldn't be bothered to post it.

But it's here now, and that's all that matters. Right?

I've been feeling particularly sentimental lately. I think it's all the Christmas music. It makes me think of family and childhood and decorating the tree with my mom and making snow angels with my brother and sisters and waking up on Christmas morning brimming with excitement. Which then leads me to think about how much I love our family.

Then I usually start crying.

Picture of the week: Nov. 19

It began as a challenging week (see the lack of blog posts). A week that tested my patience and pushed me to the limit. I felt like I was barely hanging on. I started fantasizing about them being 16 and sleeping until noon.

But as the days went by, things got a little better each day. And by yesterday, I found myself feeling sad that they are growing so fast. I have decided 16 can wait.

The girls love to wave. They started doing it a couple of weeks ago, but I've had an incredibly hard time capturing it on camera. But here it is, in all of its blurry glory.

Pictures of the Week: Oct. 29

Crawling and shimmying and scooting and sitting and standing and squatting. They are constantly moving. Which means I'm constantly moving. Which means I'm going to go eat some pizza this weekend. I've earned it.

Pictures of the Week: Oct. 22

These were shot after we got back from the store a few days ago. They are such good little babies. I just want to squeeze them all day long for the rest of my life.
